ODISHA COUNCIL OF SPORTS

*     Odisha Council of Sports (OCS) is a grantee autonomous organisation functioning since 1957 and duly registered under Society Registration Act in 1970-71.
*     OCS is headed by Minister, Sports & Youth Services of Odisha as its Chairman, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Sports & YS Department as Vice-chairman and Director, Sports as ex-officio Secretary.
*     According to Sports & YS Department sources, OCS has 21 Members.
*     The Under Secretary to Government, Sports & YS Department is functioning as Special Officer of OCS.
*     OCS has three employees of its own.
*     Apart from it, the Council has engaged 29 trained coaches who are imparting coaching in various disciplines in 30 districts of the state and also functioning as Incharge District Sports Officer in some districts.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
*     To advice the State Government in all matters concerning sports and games.
*     To act as liaison between state sports and games associations/district associations and the State Government.
*     To grant recognition to state sports and games organisations and district sports and games organisation and to frame rules in this connection.
*     To recommend to the State Government regarding grants to be given to the state sports and games organisations and district associations.
*     To frame its own rules and regulations to regularize matters not covered by Government Resolution No - 1864/CA dtd. 3-6-1967 subject to the approval of the government.
*     To receive grants from Government and to make payment to state sports and games organisations and district associations.
*     To provide infrastructure facilities to hostel trainees as well as outsiders.
*     To provide regular coaching to hostel trainees and budding sports persons.
*     To provide sports materials/goods to different sports organisations with a view to development of sports and games.
*     To popularize sports consciousness in the state.
