Soumya Ranjan Mishra of Central Railway and Cuttack boy Mohammad Ashraf won the senior and junior titles respectively in the 8th All-Orissa Open Kalinga Cup Chess Tournament, which concluded at the OASA Bhawan in Bhubaneswar today.
In the nine-round tournament, top seed Soumya registered eight wins and a draw to top the table with 24 points. He received the top prize of Rs 5,000.
Third seed Ashraf finished with 23 points to take home the top prize of Rs 4,000. The top 10 finishers in both the categories shared a total prize of Rs 26,000.
Chess International Master Swayangshu Satyapragyan and former eminent athlete Pranati Mishra gave away the prizes at the closing function. Host Kalinga Chess Academy`s Director Sibabrata Dash was present on the occasion.
