Kunal Agarwal retains State junior billiards crown

Bhubaneswar lad Kunal Agarwal retained his junior billiards title, defeating local opponent Rakesh Roshan Pradhan by 300 points (666-366) in the final of the 14th Visa Steel State Billiards and Snooker Championship, which commenced at Bhubaneswar Club today. Earlier in the semifinals, Agarwal outplayed Nishant Biswal, while Pradhan prevailed over Hardeep Singh Saluja. In senior billiards, Amit Lath defeated Siddharth Sen 2-1 to advance to the semifinals, where he would meet defending champion Kunal Agarwal tomorrow. Three more cueists booked berths in senior billiards quarterfinals after posting contrasting wins in first-round matches of the day. Siddharth Sen and Goutam Sahu (both Cuttack) beat Mehul Rathor and H S Saluja respectively in straight frames. But Rakesh Roshan Pradhan faced stiff competition against Rajnish Das before winning the match 2-1.
