Orissa name strong squad Karate National

Orissa State Karate-do Association yesterday named a 51-member state squad, including five officials for participation in the 22nd National Karate Championship to be held at Netaji Subhash Indoor Stadium in Kolkata from September 25 to 28. The 46 karatekas were chosen from a pool of 60 probables, who underwent a fortnight-long coaching camp at Utkal Karate School here. Aditya Steel is sponsoring the squad. According to All India Karate-do Federation president R Thiagrajan, performance in the Kolkata National will serve as the basis for selection Indian squqd for different international meets.
