250 join State karate meet

Around 250 competitors from 24 districts turned up for the 21st State Karate Championship, which began under the aegis of Orissa State Karate-do Association (OSKA) at the Capital High School hall in Bhubaneswar today. The three-day championship was inaugurated by Urban Development Minister Kanak Vardharn Singh Deo, who is also the president of OSKA. The opening function featured demonstration of karate skill, technique and fight. According to OSKA secretary Hari Prasad Pattanayak, the three-day state meet will serve as the basis for selection of Orissa squad for the National championship to be held at Kolkata from September 25.
