Orissa Ranji teams`` former captain and leading middle-order batsman Rashmi Ranjan Parida is all set to play for Assam in the coming season.
After making his first class debut in 1994-95, Parida quickly established himself as a prolific scorer, demostrating style, grace and consistency. His first class career statistics so far read 88 matches, 143 innings, 16 not outs, 5,830 runs, average 45.90, highest score 220, 13 hundreds, 33 fifties and 84 catches.
In 50 one-day matches (45 innings), he has accumulated 1,439 runs including one century (106 not out) and 10 fifties. Also known as Teddy, Parida led Orissa for three seasons in Ranji Trophy championship before he was replaced in a strange manner by Sanjay Raul. Under Parida``s captaincy Orissa won the East Zone one-day tournament for the first time.
