It was a rare moment for hockey in Orissa. Olympians Dilip Tirkey, Lazrus Barla and former India captain Prabodh Tirkey saluted Manjit Kullu and Innocent Kull, two of their five statemates, for helping India win the Junior Asia Cup at Hyderabad earlier this month.
The Big Brothers came together to express their support for the younger generation at a function, which was organised by Khurda District Hockey Association (KDHA) in the honour of the junior duo at Sahid Sporting Club premises in Bhubaneswar today.
The trio of seniors were, however, peeved that Orissa Hockey Association did not bother to congratulate the five state players who helped India win the Junior Asia Cup. KDHA secretary Pankaj Patnaik and Bhubaneswar Athletic Association joint-secretary Naba Ranjan Patnaik greeted Innocent and Manjit with bouquets and gifts.
