Orissa and Assam gathered two points each in their three-day Ranji Trophy East Zone match, which ended in draw on the last day at North-East Frontier Railway Stadium in Guwahati today. First innings of both the teams could not be completed unavoidable circumstances.
Opting to bat, host Assam declared their first at 358 for seven. Captain Bimal Bharali led from the front, hitting a superb 141, while V Naidu contributed a half-century. Among successful Orissa bowlers, Babu Rao, Sujit Mohanty and Bikram Mohanty picked up two wickets each.
In reply, Orissa were 269 for eight when rain stopped play on the final day. Among Orissa batsmen, Ranjit Sikdar and Rabi Panda hit a half-century each. Bikram Mohanty and Babu Rao also made notable contributions.
