Unfazed by her disappointing show in women’s 100m finals of the 23rd Asian Athletics Championships, Odisha sprint phenomenon Dutee Chand bounced back to qualify for 200m finals, clocking 23.33s in the semifinal heats at Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar today.
After Day-Three of the continental championship, India stayed at No 3 in the medals table with a total of 13 (2 gold, 5 silver, 6 bronze) metals. India, however, settled with just three silver medals on the third day.
Swapna Burman won 11th medal for India with a silver in heptathlon, mustering 5993 points. Purnima Hembram, the second Odisha athlete representing India in this championship, finished fifth with 5528 points.
India pocketed the second silver medal of the day in 4x400m mixed relay event, clocking 3:16.47. The Indian mixed relay team was composed of Mohd Anas Yahiya, Poovamma MR, VK Vismaya and Arokiya Rajiv. Sanjivani Jadhav grabbed the bronze medal in women`s 10,000m, clocking 32:44.96 which is her Personal Best.
