Odisha make winning start in Cooch Behar Trophy

Odisha started their campaign in Cooch Behar Trophy U-19 Tournament on a winnings note, trouncing hosts Goa by 10 wickets on the fourth and last day of their first Elite Group-C match at Margao Cricket Club in Margao today. The emphatic win fetched Odisha seven points, including one bonus point.

Goa escaped innings defeat by making a total of 264 in their second innings. Chasing an easy target of just one run, Odisha clinched victory in two balls. Earlier, put into bat by Goa captain Alam Khan, Odisha rode on a century by Anil Parida and a half-century each by Swastik Samal and captain Raghunath Malla to muster 368 in the first-innings. Parida slammed 107 with the help of 12 boundaries.

Goa were forced to follow on as they were bundled out for a paltry 104, conceding a first-innings lead of 264 runs. Sekhar Majhi was most successful Odisha bowler in the first innings, taking four wickets for 29 runs. Odisha will next meet Kerala here at Ravenshaw University Ground from November 26 to 29.
