Odisha gained three points by virtue of taking first-innings lead in their C K Nayudu Trophy U-23 Elite Group-C match, which ended in draw on the fourth and last day at Sanguem Cricket Gound, Sanguem (Goa) today. Hosts Goa settled with one point.
Chasing a daunting target of 363 for victory, Goa were 122 for three in their second innings when both the captains agreed to end the match as draw. Odisha set the target by declaring their second innings at 306 for nine earlier in the day. Opening batsman Amrit Khatua and captain Debasish Samantray scored a half-century each for Odisha.
Earlier in the first innings, Odisha rode on an unbeaten knock of 142 by Debasish Samantray and 83 by Kshyamasagar Bal to make the respectable total. Samantray, who hit 18 boundaries and one six in his 332-ball knock, compiled 130 runs in his fifth-wicket stand with Bal.
