Bhubaneswar teams asserted supremacy in the Odisha Chapter of Indian School Basketball League (ISBL) with Government Girls High School, Unit-VI and Government Boys High School, Unit-IX emerging champions here at Unit-I Basketball Court today.
As many as 20 boys’ teams and 12 girls’ outfits from twin city Cuttack and Bhubaneswar participated in the tournament, which was organised by Bhubaneswar Basketball Association (BBA), under the aegis of Odisha Basketball Association (OBA) and Basketball Federation of India from August 18.
The two-phase tournament commenced with preliminary league here at Unit-I Basketball Court and Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. The top two girls and boys teams from both the cities qualified for the super league, the final phase.
After the super league, Mother’s Public School, Bhubaneswar and DAV Public School, CDA, Cuttack became first and second runners-up respectively in girls’ section. In boys’ category, the first and second runners-up positions were claimed by Mother’s Public School and Delhi Public School, Kalinga respectively.
BBA president Syed Maqbul Ali and OBA secretary Gyana Ranjan Parida handed over the trophies at the closing function. BBA secretary Prasanta Nayak was present on the occasion.
