Hockey legend Dilip Tirkey shines in golf tournament

Hockey Olympian Dilip Tirkey is into golf. He won the prize for longest drive and finished second overall in the sixth leg of the 11th Indian edition of the Audi quattro Cup golf tournament series that concluded  here at the Bhubaneswar Golf Club today. The Audi quattro Cup would see more than 800 golfers competing towards a slot for the India finals and the coveted trophy.

In the qualifying round hosted by Audi Bhubaneswar, the team of Rahul Patnaik and Rajib Sahoo booked their place in the India finals. The duo of Narendra Pal Singh and Shailendra Upadhyaya took the overall top spot while the Dalbir Singh and Dilip Tirkey combination took the second place overall.

Bhupinder Singh won the ‘Closest to the Pin’ contest and Dileep Tirkey took home the ‘Longest Drive’ award as part of the skills competitions held alongside the main event. The event was played on a Team Stableford format where the teams were drawn randomly after the round.

The individual handicaps will be derived by the Single Peoria system and the top team with the best cumulative score from each leg will qualify for the India finals later this year. The winning team from the India final will then qualify to participate in the world finals of the Audi quattro Cup in September.
