Rising Students Club emerged champions in the Mulberry Cuttack Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament, defeating their Cuttack city opponents Solar Cricket Club by four wickets in the low-scoring final at Nimpur ground, Cuttack today. The champion team received a cash prize of Rs 40,000 and the runners-up side Rs 25,000.
Pratik Tripathy (Rising Student) was adjudged both best batsman and man of the tournament and he pocketed Rs 4,000. Prakash Panda (Nimpur Sports & Cricket Club) and Suryakanta Pradhan (Rising Students) became richer by Rs 2,000 each as the best bowler and man of the final match respectively.
State Sports Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera and Hi-Tech Medical College Director Dr Premranjan Ojha handed over the trophy and cash prizes in the closing ceremony. Host Nimpur Sports & Cricket Club president Bibhu Satpathy was present on the occasion. The tournament, featuriing 16 teams from Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, was inaugurated by Cuttack Mayor Meenakhi Behera earlier on April 22.
