Swastik Samal has been included in the 15-member East Zone team as the lone player from Odisha for the U-19 (Boys) Inter-Zonal Cricket Tournament, which is scheduled to be conducted at Chennai, under the aegis of National Cricket Academy (NCA) from May 25 to June 7, 2017.
A top-order batsman and occasional bowler, Samal has played a total of 10 miscellaneous matches for Odisha in a career, that commenced in the season 2012-13. The 10 miscellaneous matches include: three in Vijay Merchant U-16 Tournament, three in Vinoo Mankad Trophy U-19, three in Dhruve Pandove Trophy U-19 Tournament and one in Cooch Behar Trophy U-19 Tournament.
According to BCCI Assistant General Manager, Cricket Operations, KVP Rao, Selected players presently participating in the ZCA U-19 Boys East Zone Camp will travel directly to Chennai from Ranchi.
