Good allround performance by Deepak Behera helped Odisha beat Tripura by 10 runs in their opening match of the Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy Senior Men East Zone T20 League at Eden Gardens in Kolkata today. He top scored with a cameo 24 off 15 balls and then picked up two wickets for 24 runs.
Put into bat, Odisha struggled at 26 for three before useful contributions by the middle order enabled them to make a modest total of 131 for six. In reply, Tripura were restricted to 121 for eight. Left-arm spinner Dhiraj Singh was most successful Odisha bowler, taking three wickets for 18 runs. The fighting win fetched Odisha four points, while Tripura drew blank. Odisha will next meet Bengal on January 31.
