Odisha boys win one, draw one in East Zone Sub-jr NFC

Host Odisha won one match and drew the other against Sports Authority of India in the Sub-junior Boys National football Championship (East Zone Qualifying Round), which was being held at Ravenshaw University Ground here from January 5.

Ashanta Kerketa struck twice to guide host Odisha to a 3-0 emphatic win in the first-leg match. Other scorer for Odisha was Bekeya Oram. In the second leg, Odisha were held to a 1-1 draw. West Bengal blanked Chhattisgarh 4-0 and 3-0 in their two matches. Odisha and West Bengal qualified for the final round of championship.

Altogether four teams are participated in this tournament, which was inaugurated by former Odisha Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera. SAI Director Manmit Singh Goindi, Ravenshaw Athletic Club vice-president Dr Dharmabrata Mahapatra and office-bearers of Football Association of Odisha were present on the occasion.

Jan 5 (Match No 1):
Odisha (Ashanta Kerketa 11th, 71st; Bekeya Oram 27th) beat SAI 3-0.
Jan 6 (Match No 2):
West Bengal (Manav Mullick 46th, Nayandeep Rai 78th, 82nd; Phurba Thely Sherpa 84th) beat Chhatishgarh 4-0.
Jan 7 (Match No 3): Odisha (Purusotam Kerketta 19th) drew with Sports Authority of India (Isaac Letminlen 46th) 1-1.
Jan 8 (Match No 4): West Bengal (Manav Mullick 10th, 39th; Somen Mondal 88th) beat Chhattisgarh 3-0.
