Utkal University finished fourth in the East Zone Inter-University Women Kabaddi Tournament, which concluded at Kashi Viswavidyalaya, Varanasi University today. Utkal won two matches and lost two. However, by finishing fourth in East Zone, Utkal qualified for the All-India Inter-University tournament, scheduled to be held at Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan next year in the month of February.
In their four matches, Utkal University beat Durg Viswavidyalaya, Chhattisgarh 22-16 and VBS Purvanchal University, Jaunpur (UP) 29-23, but lost to Burdwan University (West Bengal) 22-30 and Kashi Viswavidyalaya 16-45. Utkal University Sports Council Director Prof Jayanta Parida congratulated the members of the women team for their achievement.
