Oct 26: Local favourites Rising Student Football Club and Eastern Sporting Union (Manipur) qualified for the final round of the Indian Women League (IWL) by emerging group toppers in the preliminary round, which was hosted by Football Association of Odisha, under the aegis of All India Football Federation here at Odisha Police Ground from October 17 to 26, 2016.
Rising Student won all four of their Group-A matches, defeating Quartz FC 9-1, Royal Wahingdoh FC 13-0, Bodyline FC 1-0 and Alakhpura FC 2-0. International striker Pyari Xaxa was the top scorer for Rising Student with 11 goals to her name.
