Rain continued to play spoil sport in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy U-19 East Zone One-Day League as the match between Odisha and host Jharkhand was abandoned after first innings and the two teams settled with two points each at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Dhanbad today.
Electing to bat, Jharkhand rode on an unbeaten century by Sagar Shresht to post a healthy total of 273 for eight in the stipulated 50 overs. But before Odisha could start their innings, rain came in and washed out the remaining part of the match.
This was the third match for Odisha and they now have eight points in their kitty. Earlier, the first-round match between Odisha and Tripura was washed out without a ball bowled. Led by Saurabh Rawat, Odisha won their next match, beating North East by 14 runs. Odisha will next play Bengal on October 8.
