The Council Meeting of Odisha Olympic Association (OAA), which was held at OAA office here in Barabati Stadium today, approved and ratified the decision to hand over charges to Rabindra Kumar Parida as the genera secretary of the apex sports body of the state.
The main agenda of the meeting, which was presided over by OAA president Samir Dey, was to discus the implementation of interim order of the Supreme Court, which in its interim order earlier on March 9, had restrained Asirbad Behera from functioning as the general secretary of OOA till April 13 in connection with Barabati Stadiium land encroachment case.
According to an OAA release, honouring the Supreme Court order, Behera had immediately handed over the charges to `locally available’ joint-secretary Rabindra Kumar Parida. In the council meeting today, OAA members welcomed the decision of Behera and approved as well as ratified his action.
Ashok Kumar Sahu, also a joint-secretary of OOA, moved the proposal of handing over the charges to Parida, who is also the secretary of Odisha State Table Tennis Association. The proposal was unanimously accepted by the members present in the meeting.
