Odisha allrounder Madhusmita Behera will lead a 16-member East Zone team in the BCCI Senior Women Inter-Zonal (Three-day) Tournament, scheduled to take place at Guntur from February 26 to March 16. Besides Madhusmita, five more players from Odisha have found berths in the Senior East Zone team. They are: Swagatika Rath, Madhuri Meheta, Sushree Dibyadarshini Pradhan, Kadambini Mohakud and Sujata Mallick.
Similarly, promising Odisha allrounder Sushree Dibyadarshini Pradhan has been named as the vice-captain of 16-member East Zone team for the BCCI U-23 Women Inter-Zonal (One-day) Tournament, which is set to be conducted at Raipur and Bhilai from February 16 to 21.
Besides Sushree, three more players from Odisha _ Pragyan Paramita Mohanty, Sujata Mallick and Sunita Murmu _ have been included in the East Zone U-23 team, which will be led by Shaika Ishaque (Bengal). Players of the East Zone U-23 team have been instructed to report at OCA office on February 11 by 10 am. The team will leave for Raipur by train on February 13.
Players for both the teams were chosen in the meeting of East Zone Selection Committee here at OCA Club, Barabati Stadium today. Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) secretary and East Zone convener Asirbad Behera, national selector Lopamudra Banerjee and East Zone selectors Santosh Kumar Das (Odisha), Anju Jain (Assam), Mithu Mukherjee (Bengal), Deepak Kumar (Jharkhand) and Pannalal Chakraborty (Tripura) attended the meeting.
