Kendrapara Evening College emerged champions in the Utkal University Inter-College Volleyball Tournament, which concluded here at Vani Vihar today. The champion team beat Bapuji College, Chhendipada in the final by 3-2 sets.
As many as 68 colleges participated in the week-long tournament, which was organised by Utkal University Sports Council (UUSC). Earlier three zonal competitions were conducted at Paradeep College, Nayagarh College and Vani Vihar. Top two finishers from each zone qualified for the inter-zone tournament.
PG Council chairman Prof Ranjan Kumar Bal handed over the trophy. According to UUSC director Prof Jayant Kumar Parida, a 12-member team, selected from the inter-college tournament, will represent Utkal in the East Zone Inter-University Volleyball Tournament, scheduled to be organised by Tripura University in the last week of October.
