Five-wicket hauls by pace bowler Ashutosh Das and leg-spinner Rajkishan Patel and a stroke-filled 83 by Devendra Kunwar propelled host Odisha to a 130-run win over Railways on the penultimate day of their four-day Group-C league match of the Cooch Behera Trophy U-19 Cricket Tournament at Nimpur ground here today.
The victory assumed added significance considering the fact that the home team had conceding a five-run lead in the first innings. Electing to bat, host Odisha were bundled out for 115. In reply, Railways rode on captain Harjeet Singh`s half-century make 120. In the second innings, Odisha put up improved performance and compiled a total of 267. Chasing 263 for victory, Railways were bundled out for 132.
New-ball bowler Ashutosh Das bagged five wickets in the first innings and seven in the match. Patel claimed five wickets in the second innings to cap Odisha’s victory. Devendra Kunwar slammed 83 (76b, 12x4, 1x6) in the second innings. With this win, their first in two matches, Odisha gained six points, while Railways drew blank. Odisha will next meet Punjab at Patiala from November 22 to 25.
