City girl Shradha Nayak secured a third place in under-14 kumite event of the 25th JKA All-India Karate Tournament held at Andheri Sports Complex, Mumbai, recently.
The event, which included training camp and gradation examination, was part of the Mumbai Festival held during the India-Japan Friendship Year celebration.
Shradha, a seventh standard student of Carmel Convent School here, also appeared examination in the sho dan (black belt) grade. She was part of a four-member team which included Mithilesh Nayak, Mrinmoy Bannerjee and Arka Choudhary. The team was led by chief instructor of shotokan karate and Orissa state head of JKAI.
