Four women from Odisha included in Indian hockey team for CWG

Hockey India today announced its 16-member senior women team, which included four from Odisha, for the Commonwealth Games, scheduled to take place at Glasgow (Scotland) from July 23 to August 3.

The team was selected by Hockey India selectors B P Govinda, Harbinder Singh, Surinder Kaur along with Director High Performance Roelant Oltmans, Chief Coach Neil Hawgood and Scientific Advisor Matthew Tredrea during the selection trials conducted at NSNIS, Patiala on 28-29 June, 2014.

Mid-fielder Ritu Rani will be the captain while defender Deepika will be the vice-captain of the team. Odisha players in the squad are: Deep Grace Ekka, Namita Toppo, Lilima Minz and Anupa Barla.

India will start their voyage by taking-on Canada in their first match which is listed for July 24, followed by matches against New Zealand on July 27, Trinidad and Tobago on July 28 and South Africa on July 30.
