Odisha Sports Journalists Association (OSJA) would be hosting the 39th National Convention of Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI) at Bhubaneswar in 2016. This was decided in the 37th Annual General Meeting of the SJFI at Hyderabad today. Mumbai would play host to the 38th Natinal Convention next year.
OSJA joint-secretary Sambit Mohapatra was elected as a SJFI executive member in the AGM. This is for the first time that someone from Odisha secured a place in the SJFI executive committee.
Meanwhile, OSJA achieved its best success in SJFI Football Tournament (Penalty shootout) by finishing runners-up. The three-member OSJA team, comprising Sambit Mohapatra, Faizal Ali and Mohammad Abdul Aziz lost to Mumbai in the exciting final 6-7, via sudden death.
