Attabira White Horse emerged champions in the 2nd Bargarh District Premier League (BDPL), trouncing Bargarh Lions by 94 runs in the lop-sided final at Lengu Mishra Stadium here today. Put into bat, Attabira White Horse compiled a total of 154 and then skittled out the opposition for a paltry total of 60. Srikant Pradhan, who top-scored for the winners with 25-ball 51, was adjudged the man of the final match.
Champions Attabira White Horse received a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and runners-up Bargarh Lions were given Rs 30,000. Mohammad Salim of Bargarh Lions grabbed the prize as the man of the tournament, mustering a total of 223 runs, including the one and only century. The prize for best bowler went to Arup Mahato, who finished with nine wickets, including five in the final for the Lions.
Altogether five teams vied for the title in the six-day event. Last year`s champions Bargarh Royal Tigers, Surendra Veers and Dynamic XI were other three teams in the fray. Odisha Cricket Academy` Technical Director R Srikant handed over the trophy at the closing function.
Bargarh District Cricket Association president Arun Mohanty, secretary Subrat Chattarjee, organising secretary Amiya Bhusan Sahu and Vikash Group MD G Bhaskar Rao were present on the occasion.
BRIEF SCORE: Attabira White Horse 154/10 in 20 overs (Srikant Pradhan 51, Nikhil Barun 31; Arup Mahato 5/27) beat Bargarh Lions 60/10 in 11.2 overs (Atulya Karna 17; Pardeshi Nishad 3/13, Vishal Singh 3/13) by 94 runs.
