Manas Parida wins OSRC Open chess title

Experienced local campaigner Manas Ranjan Parida justified his top billing by emerging champion in the 9th All-Odisha Open Chess Tournament, which concluded at Secretariat Recreation Club here today. Overnight sole lead Parida logged eight points in the ninth-round tournament to take home the top prize of Rs 5,000.

Altogether 127 players from 16 districts participated in the three-day event. State ST & SC Development Director Dr Akhila Bihari Hota handed over the prizes at the closing function. Host Odisha Secretariat Recreation Club (OSRC) general secretary Managovinda Dalai and chief arbiter Debasis Panigrahi were present on the occasion.
