Odisha finished overall runners-up, bagging a total of seven medals in the 33rd Senior National Rowing Championship, which was held at Pune from February 2 to 8. The medals included three gold, two silver and two bronze.
According to press release by Odisha Association for Rowing & Sculling, the championship was conducted for both 2,000 metre and 500 metre with four events in each category. Odisha rowers participated in both the categories. However, women rowers yet again made the state proud by securing all seven medals.
In 2,000m category, Alma Lakra, Pratima Puhana, Ashmita Kujur and Manisha Kispotta won the gold in coxless four, Pratima Puhana and Ashmita Kujur pocketed the bronze in coxless pair, while Monika Devi got a bronze in single scull.
In 500 metre category, Alma Lamkra, Ashmita Kujur, Pricila Buxla and Manisha Kispotta. Pratima secured gold in coxless four, Pratima Puhana and Ashmita Kujur claimed gold in coxless pair.
Both the silver medals were garnered up by Meen Madhuri Toppo and Pramila Prava Minz in 2,000 and 500 metre double scull events.
The 11-member Odisha squad, which included eight women and three men, was accompanied by coach Jose Jacob and manager Sk Mustaq Bux.
