Odisha held Bengal to a goalless draw in their third and last Group-B league match of the East Zone Santosh Trophy Football Championship at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok (Sikkim) today. However, Bengal qualified for the next phase by virtue of emerging group toppers with seven points, while Odisha finished second with five points.
Odisha earlier blanked Bihar 5-0 on January 27, but were held to a goalless draw by Chhattisgarh on January 29. Odisha led 2-0 against Bihar at the half-time with captain Shekh Mustakim drawing first blood in the sixth minute and Suresh Kujjur netting the second goal in the 33rd minute.
After the change of ends, Niranjan Sardar made it 3-0 in the 51st minute. Sanatan Lohar scored the fourth goal with a long-range drive in the 84th minute, while Arjun Nayak nailed the last goal in the injury time (92nd minute).
