Oil India golfers win Public Sector trophy

Oil India Limited (OIL) won the team title, edging out host Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) by a solitary point in the All-India Public Sector Golf Tournament, which concluded at Mahanadi Golf Club course in Burla today.
The OIL team, comprising H S Kang, Samarth Dwivedi, Arjun Sharma and Ankur Chadha topped the table with a stableford score of 178, while the MCL team, represented by A K Das, A K Behura, R C Jena and J Kumar, finished runner-up with 177 points.
Golfers from 11 government enterprises participated in the two-day championship. Prizes in different categories were given away by Coal India Limited Director (P&IR) R Mohandas, MCL CMD A N Sahay, Director (Personnel) P C Panigrahi and Chief Vigilance Officer Deepak Srivastava. A souvenir was released on the occasion.
In the Directors’ Play, a special part of the tournament, Nalco Director (HR) S C Padhy bagged the winner’s trophy, while NTPC Director (Finance) Kulmani Biswal and CIL Director R Mohandas settled as first and second runner-up respectively.

Best net score: 0-14 handicap: 1. Arjun Sharma (OIL, 38 pts), 2. A K Das (MCL, 38) and K Manoharan (NLC, 38). 15-24 handicap: 1. P K Chakiyar (MCL, 34), 2. A C Day (MCL, 33) and P K Bhowmik (CIL, 33). Best outstation golfer: R K Athwal (Air India, 73 pts). Best straightest drive: Arjun Sharma (OIL). Longest drive: Vikram Rana (ONGC, 303 yards). Nearest-to-pin: K Ganesan (NLC, 4 feet).
