KISS archers take team title in State meet

Bhubaneswar-based tribal school, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) claimed the team title in the 17th Odisha State Archery Championship, which concluded at Dhenkanal Stadium in Dhenkanal today. Altogether 230 archers from 18 districts participated in the two-day championship.

Revenue Divisional Commissioner (North) Dr Pramod Kumar Meherda gave away the prizes in the presence of Dhenkanal Collector Roopa Roshan Sahoo, SP Manoranjan Mohanty and State archery association secretary Sradhananda Das. Kalpana Das, Odisha`s only woman to scale Mount Everest, was honoured on the occasion.

The two-day meet was earlier inaugurated by State Election Commissioner and Odisha Archery Association president Ajit Kumar Tripathy. Director General of Police Prakash Mishra, Dhenkanal Collector Roopa Roshan Sahoo were present at the opening ceremony.

Mini girls: 1. Salge Soren (Mayurbhanj), 2. Sukanti Tudu (Cuttack), 3. Sukuramuni Munda (Keonjhar).
Sub-junior boys: 1. Sachikanta Munda (Keonjhar), 2. Suna Santa (Koraput), 3. Nilanchal Hial (Bolangir).
Sub-junior girls: 1. Sakuntala Sabar (KISS), 2. Renuka Oram (Sundargarh), 3. Golap Nayak (Keonjhar).
Junior boys: 1. Purendra Patra , 2. Mantu Swain (KISS), 3. Suryamani Majhi (KISS).
Junior girls: 1. Anita Punem (KISS), 2. Pratima Dung (Mayurbhanj), 3. Sangita Soren (KISS).
Senior boys: 1. Udaya Majhi (Mayurbhanj), 2. Basant Kumar Besra (Cuttack), 3. Phaguram Soren (Mayurbhanj).
Olympic round (Boys): 1. Ranjit Nayak (KISS), 2. Sraban Mandagi (KISS), 3. Raj Kumar Nayak (HAL, Sunabada).
