Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) emerged champions in the 12th Inter School Cricket Tournament, defeating St. Xavier High School (Khandagiri) by 17 runs in the final at Unit-II Girls` High School ground here today. KISS bowler Subash Chandra Mallik bagged four wickets to be adjudged the man of the match.
The champion school received the Ashok Tripathy Memorial Trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 7,000, while the runners-up school were given the Bharat Pani Memorial Trophy and a cash prize of Rs 5,000.
Digambar Pujari (KISS) and Pratyush Purohit (St Joseph`s High School) bagged the prizes as man of the tournament and upcoming player of the year respectively.
Former Sports Minister Suresh Chandra Routray handed over the trophies in the presence of host Veterans Cricket Association of Odisha, including president Sk Mustaqu Alli, working president Bikram Mohanty, vice-presidents Santanu Satpathy, Balabhadra Patnaik, secretary Biren Das, organising secretary Ashok Patnaik, joint-secretaries Biswaranjan Nayak and Ananga Prasad Patnaik.
