Rising Students Club emerged champions in the 1st Rajarani Cup All-Odisha T-20 Cricket Tournament, defeating Biswabharati Cricket Club by five wickets in the all-Cuttack final at BJB College ground here today. Electing to bat, Biswabharati made 122 for seven in the stipulated 20 overs. Former Odisha captain Niranjan Behera top scored with 40, while all-rounder Payas Ranjan Sinha contributed 34. Tapendra Singh and Jayanta Behera took two wickets each for Rising Students.
Chasing the modest target, Rising Students romped home with six balls to spare. Sanjiv Barik and Girija Rout scored 37 and 36 respectively, while Biswabharati`s Payas Ranjan Sinha picked up three wickets for 17 runs. The champion team received the top prize of Rs 25,000, while the runners-up outfit were given Rs 20,000.
Sanjiv Barik, Payas Ranjan Sinha, Girija Rout and Prasanta Sahoo bagged the prizes as man of the match, man of the tournament, best batsman and best bowler respectively.
