Odisha bounced back after suffering back-to-back defeats against Delhi and Maharashtra to register their first win in the C K Nayudu Trophy U-25 Cricket Tournament, trouncing host Jammu & Kashmir by 165 runs on the fourth and last day of the Elite Group-B match at Srinagar today.
Chasing 398 for victory, Jammu & Kashmir were bowled out for 232. Odisha all-rounder Priyatosh Paramanik starred in the victory, hitting a century in the first innings and bagging four wickets in the second essay. Odisha would play their last league match against Tamil Nadu at Chennai from November 17 to 20.
Electing to bat, Odisha rode on a sparkling century by Paramanik and his 148-run stand for the eighth wicket with Alok Sahoo to make healthy total of 320 in the first innings. The former hit 117 (196b, 11x4) and latter slammed 82 (121b, 4x11, 1x6). In reply, the home team made 231 to concede a lead of 89 runs. In the second innings, Odisha rode on a half-century each by Arabind Singh, Lagnajit Samal and Girija Rout to make 308.
