Nayak emerges State U-25 chess champion

Biswajit Nayak won the title in the Odisha State Under-25 Chess Championship, which concluded at Town Hall in Boudh today. In the six-round championship, Bhubaneswar lad Nayak finished at the top of the table with 5.5 points. He received a cash prize of Rs 1,250.

Bhaskar Sri Viswaroopanand (Puri) ended runner-up with five points. Odisha Assembly speaker Pradeep Kumar Amat gave away the trophy at the closing function. Host Boudh District Chess Association secretary Sankar Prasad Mishra was present on the occasion. The top two finishers qualified to represent the state in the National U-25 Championship to be held at Aurangabad in Maharashtra later this year.

Lochan Kumar Das (Puri, 4).
