Promoting a sport may sometime require both playing and organising, especially in Orissa. Subrat Das proved it true by playing the lead role in organising the MIET Twin City Challenger Trophy Snooker Tournament and winning it too. In the final, local contender Subrat beat third seed Satyadeep Das (Cuttack) 5-3 at Q-Ball in Bhubaneswar today.
The title win gave Subrat the top prize of Rs 18,000, while runner-up Satyadeep took home Rs 10,000. The two losing semifinalists received Rs 4,000 each, while each of the four losing quarterfinalists were given Rs 2,000. As many as 43 cueists joined the tournament, which carries a total of Rs 47,000 as prize money.
