Odisha bagged one gold and one silver in the Junior National Powerlifting Championship at Lucknow (UP) today. Pradeep Kumar Patra won the gold in men’s 66kg weight category, lifting 195kg in squat, 115kg in benchpress and 240kg in deadlift for a total of 550kg.
Krishna Kumari Mallick secured the silver medal in women’s 52kg category, lifting 95kg in squat, 42kg in benchpress and 100kg in deadlift for the total 237kg. A 14-member Odisha squad is taking part in the five-day championship, which features competition in unequipped category for the first two days and that in equipped category for the last three days.
