Sambalpur Sports Hostel lift Biju Gold Cup

Sambalpur Sports Hostel beat Sundargarh Sports Hostel 1-0 in the final to emerge champions in the 6th Biju Patnaik Gold Cup All-Odisha Under-16 Football Tournament at Kalinga Stadium here today. Rakesh Oram scored the all-important goal to be adjudged the man of the tournament.

The champion team received a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and the runner-up outfit were given Rs 3,000. Biraj Bara, Mukesh Minz (both Sundargarh), Rudra Prasad Pradhan (Sambalpur) and Caturananda Marandi (KISS) were awarded as the best goalkeeper, best mid-fielder, best defender and best forward respectively.
Sports Minister Badri Narayan Patra handed over the trophy and prizes at the closing function. The four-day tournament was organised by Unit-VI Athletic Association in collaboration with School and Mass Education Department and Directorate of Sports & Youth Services.
