Nirmala English Medium School, Sundargarh emerged champions in YMCA State-Level Inter-School Cricket Tournament, defeating Syed Seminary School, Cuttack by six wickets in the final at Town Club ground, Bhubaneswar today.
Sanjay Das starred in the Nirmala school win, bagging five wickets for 22 runs. He was adjudged the man of the match. His teammate T S Dora was named both man of the tournament and best wicketkeeper.
The prizes for best bowler, best batsman, best fielder and best upcoming player were claimed by Prakash Panda (Syed Seminary), Sachin Sresth, Bhabesh Panda (both Nirmal EMS) and Kamesh Naik (Syed Seminary) respectively.
Hockey Olympian Dilip Tirkey and Ekamra MLA Ashok Chandra Panda presented the trophy at the closing function. Host YMCA president S Patra and director Ashok Mohapatra were present on the occasion.
