Favourites Bhubaneswar-A crushed Cuttack-B by seven wickets in the final to emerge champions in the Kalahandi Cup Senior Inter-District Cricket Tournament at Bidanasi ground here today. Young speedster Alok Mangaraj and experienced all-rounder P Jayachandra played instrumental roles in the victory, bagging five wickets and hitting an unbeaten half-century respectively.
The two-day match could not last even a full day as Cuttack-B were skittled out for a paltry 94. In reply, Bhubaneswar-A easily overhauled the target, losing three wickets. The champion side, led by former India swing bowler Debasis Mohanty, received the top prize of Rs 20,000, while the runner-up team were given Rs 15,000.
