Ace woman hurdler Anuradha Biswal surrendered her 100-metre hurdles gold medal after she was disqualified on the basis of a complaint lodged by Karnataka manager on the opening day of the 14th Federation Cup Athletic Championship at Bhopal (MP) today.
Anuradha was disqualified as she withdrew from the 100-metre sprint event without informing the meet officials. Though National record holder Anuradha registered her entry in two events, she opted out of the 100 metre dash as it was conducted half-an-hour before 100 metre hurdles, her pet event. But despite losing the gold, Anuradha expressed her satisfaction for finishing the race in an improved timing of 13.75 seconds.
