A 17-member Odisha squad secured a total of eight medals, which included three golds, two silvers and three bronzes in the 23rd Sub-junior National Karate Championship, which conclude at Erode in Tamil Nadu yesterday.
Ankita Subuddhi fetched Orissa the last medal by winning a bronze in 16 to 17 years girls 59kg fight event.
Earlier Karanvir won a gold medal in 14 to 15 years boys 70kg fight event, Akash Patel claimed a silver in 63kg fight and Sonu Nayak bagged a bronze in 10 to 11 year girls fight category. On te opening day of the three-day championship, Sangita Sonali Mallick won a gold in 16 to 17 years kata event.
The second gold was secured by Rajnarayan Khunti, Debabrata Yadav and Bhubaneswar Mohanty in 14 to 17 years boys team kata event. Dilip Kumar Behera claimed the silver in 14 to 15 years boys kata, while Biswashree Mohapatra pocked the bronze in 10 to 11 years girls kata.
