Padmini emerges sole lead in World Junior Chess

Indian Woman International Master (WIM) Padmini Rout snatched the sole lead with five points after completion of sixth round of the World Junior (U-20) Girls Chess Championship at Puerto Madryn in Argentina today. In the sixth round, Orissa girl Padmini outwitted overnight leader Zhang Xiaowen (China) to register her fifth win in a row. Asian junior champion Padmini would next meet WIM Zoja Severiukhina of Russia tomorrow. Sixth seed Padmini’s fellow Orissa WIM Kiran Manisha Mohanty also posted win, defeating host Argentina’s Maria Florencia Fernandez. Kiran now shares the third place with four points and would next meet Anna Heyrapetyan of Armenia.
