Double delight for Orissa as Padmini, Kiran post wins

Orissa Woman International Master (WIM) Padmini beat Ukraine WIM Olga Kalinina in the fifth round to share the second position with Peru WIM Deysi Cori Tello in the World Junior (U-20) Girls Chess Championship at Puerto Madryn in Argentina today. This was Asian junior champion Padmini’s fourth win in a row and she would next meet Chinese WIM Xiaowen Zhang, who now leads the table with 4.5 points, half a point more than Padmini. Orissa enjoyed double delight in the fifth round as Kiran Manisha Mohanty, the other WIM of the state, defeated Ecuador’s Carla Heredia Serrano. Kiran now has three points and she would next meet Maria Florencia Fernandez of Argentina.
