Orissa finished seventh among 21 states, bagging a total of 24 medals, including eight golds, six silvers and 10 bronzes in the 21st National Inter-Zonal Junior Athletics Championship, which concluded at Panchkula in Haryana today.
Tamil Nadu topped the tally with 55 medals (16 gold, 23 silver, 16 bronze), while Haryana (15+17+11) and West Bengal (14+12+17) finished second and third with 43 medals each.
The third and final day fetched Orissa two gold, three silver and three bronze medals. Bhubaneswar sprinters Amiya Kumar Mallick and Dutee Chand bagged a double each in sprint events. International Mallick achieved special feat by setting a new meet record in under-18 boys’ 200 metre sprint, closing 21.93 seconds.

Girls-16: Dutee Chand (Gold in 200m run, 24.88s).
Girls-18: Purnima Hembram (Gold in heptathlon, 7354 pts and bronze in 100m hurdles, 15.54s), Puspanjali Mallik (Bronze in 100m, 12.38s).
Girls-20: Reena Baa (Silver in heptathlon, 3759 pts), Renubala Mahanta (Bronze in 100m, 12.82s).
Boys-14: Jagannath Majhi (Bronze in triathlon, 1450 pts).
Boys-18: Amiya Kumar Mallick (Gold in 100m and 200m with timing of 11.15 and 21.93 secs), Anil Kumar Das (Bronze in 110m hurdles, 14.78s).
Boys-20: Dharmedhar Mahanta (Gold in 110m hurdles, 14.22s and silver in 400m hurdles, 54.29s), Rabi Das (Silver in 100m, 11.3s), Sandeep Burh (Bronze in 400m hurdles, 55.59s), Orissa-A comprising Rabi Das, Subhasis Nayak, Rajendra Toppo, Dharmedhar Mahanta (Gold in 4x100m relay, 42.57s).
