Sayeed Seminary win State school cricket tourney

Sayeed Seminary School won the State Inter-School Cricket Tournament, trouncing defending champions Sundargarh Public School in the final by 61 runs at Baliyatra ground in Cuttack today. However, both the schools qualified to represent Orissa in the East Zone Polly Umrigar Trophy (under-16) Inter-School Cricket Tournament later this year. The highlight of the final match was an impressive knock of 71 by Sayeed Seminary batsman Suvendu Kumar Samal. The champion school received a cash prize of Rs 11,000, while the runners-up school was given Rs 6,000. Brief scores (Final): Sayeed Seminary 165/8 in 30 overs (Suvendu Samal 71, Prakash Bhoi 39: Ankit Panda 3/31, Santosh Das 3/38) beat Sundargarh Public School 104/10 in 28.1 overs (Udit Wilson Lakra 30: Suman Mohanty 4/18, Benu Patra 2/11, Prakash Bhoi 2/13).
