Defending champion Subrat Das started his campaign on a patchy note, defeating Sarthak Das 3-1 in the second round of the 5th Pradeep Sen Memorial All-Orissa Open Snooker Tournament at Cuttack Club, Cuttack today.
Top seed Subrat was given a good run for his money before a fine break of 43 helped him clinch victory. Second seed Rakesh Roshan Pradhan (Bhubaneswar) and fourth seed Ahsan-ul Haque (Nalco) joined Subrat in the third round with smooth wins over Sonu Mohanty and Wasim Khan respectively.

Second round: Subrat Das (1) bt Sarthak Das 3-1 (48-37, 65-29, 51-48, 64-30): Ankit Bhawsinka bt Mohir Vora 3-0 (66-24, 60-19, 66-24): Ahsan-ul Haque bt Wasim Khan 3-0 (60-22, 51-36, 67-52): Rakesh Roshan Pradhan bt Sonu Mohanty 3-0 (70-40, 71-41, 75-16).
