Sports & Games Organisation (SGO) annexed the first Bhubaneswar Cup Football Tournament, defeating Green Club 5-3, via penalty shoot out in the final at Indira Maidan in Bhubaneswar today.
Tie-break rule came into play after play in the regulation time ended in 1-1 draw. The final match caused a controversy over the equaliser scored by SGO in regulation time.
Bhubaneswar Mayor Anant Narayan Jena handed over the trophy, which carried a cash prize of Rs 10,000. Runners-up Green Club received Rs 7,000.
SGO goalkeeper Rupesh Rao and teammate Dipa Jena were adjudged as the man of the final match and man of the tournament respectively.
Green Club`s Rupai Purty received the award as the best forward of the tournament, which was organised by City Club.
Host club president Sourya Ranjan Parija was present at the closing function.
